I have been asked what will be our secret formula for success. I really do not have a secret formula and I am not selling anything. Our goals are simple

  • Develop healthy eating habits
  • Reduce our calorie intake
  • Increase our exercise and activity
  • Support each other throughout the journey

We can do some things for 30 days that are difficult to do for a lifetime. We also know that it takes 21 days to develop a new discipline. We are going to identify the challenges and develop new disciplines to overcome the strategies. Everyone in the group is encouraged to participate in the conversation.

I have begun a journey to lose 10 pounds in 30 days. I am inviting people to join me especially if you are on Facebook. I am getting a lot of help from nutritionists, chefs and personal trainers. I will share their insights and encourage you on the journey. Leave me a comment on my profile page and I will include you in our group. http://www.facebook.com/pastorchaney

Today I find myself extremely frustrated as I pray and reflect on the situation in Haiti. We keep hearing that many Haitians are still living in refugee camps after their homes were destroyed. These camps have no sanitation, electricity and no protection for the women and children. It was January 12th when the 7.0 magnitude earthquake hit the island. There was a tremendous outpouring of generosity from people all over the world and yet money sits unused as conditions are getting worse. I am frustrated because there appears to be no leadership in the country.

Yes I know that they were the poorest country on the planet before this tragedy but now they have 2,000,000 people who are homeless and 3,000,000 that need emergency aid. Are there any leaders with innovative ideas to begin to make a difference? Are there men and women who care so much about making a difference in a deplorable situation that they are petitioning the government to use some of the money and engage the many challenges that are facing the people of Haiti?

Yes I am praying about the situation but I am feeling a little overwhelmed with the inability to make a difference. Can leaders within the Body of Christ come together to provide leadership? Will there be a partnership of the private sector and Haiti’s government? This is no longer the hottest news story but it is still a place where God wants us to pay attention to.

Matthew 5:3-4

3“You’re blessed when you’re at the end of your rope. With less of you there is more of God and his rule.

4“You’re blessed when you feel you’ve lost what is most dear to you. Only then can you be embraced by the One most dear to you.

This seems like a perfect place and opportunity for God’s people to live out our call to share God’s grace as freely as God has shared grace with us. I do not have the definitive personal response but I am engaged in the journey.
